Bang Bang Cauliflower

Cauliflower can be bangin’ too.

In a medium size bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients and season to taste with salt. Set aside until you are ready to use.

Cut the cauliflower into small bite size florets (NOTE: make sure the florets are not to big so they cook all the way through).

In 3 separate large bowls, set up a breading station with seasoned flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in the 2nd bowl, and panko bread crumbs in the 3rd bowl. Season the panko bread crumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, Chinese 5 spice powder, salt, and pepper.

Bread the cauliflower florets: starting by dredging in the flour, then right into the egg wash, and into the seasoned panko bread crumbs. Repeat the process with the rest of the cauliflower florets.

In a deep fryer or cast iron skillet heat some vegetable oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Fry the breaded cauliflower for 3-5 minutes per batch until golden brown and the cauliflower soft on the inside. Drain the excess oil off the cauliflower on paper towels or a wire rack and immediately season with salt.

Now you are ready to serve the bang bang cauliflower on a bed of lettuce, drizzle some of the sauce on top (or serve on the side). Garnish with green onion and little more chili oil if desired.
