Food Court Bourbon Chicken

You don’t need to take a trip to the mall for bourbon chicken, let me show you how to make it even better at home.





Heat vegetable oil a large pan on med/high heat. Add chicken and season with salt and pepper. Cook the chicken half way and add shallots, garlic, ginger, and optionally gochugaru or red chili flakes for a little heat. Cook for about one minute until the garlic is fragrant. Add bourbon and deglaze for 2-3 minutes until reduced by half.

Next, add apple juice, soy sauce (alternatively sub for coconut aminos), brown sugar, ketchup, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir until dissolved and bring to a simmer.

Add a few splashes of your cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce and finish with green onion.

Serve with jasmine rice, and broccoli.
