Homemade Hamburger Helper

An easy weeknight meal for the entire family

Boil the pasta to the instructions on the package. Make sure to season the pasta water with salt.

In a large pan on medium heat, add the olive oil and diced onion. Once the onions are translucent add the garlic and red pepper flake. Sauté for 1 minute or until fragrant. Next add the ground beef and break up into small pieces. Once the beef is browned, drain the excess fat if needed then season with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, thyme, salt and pepper.

Next add the tomato sauce, Worcestershire, dijon mustard, and flour. Mix into the beef and cook for a few minutes to cook out the raw flour then add the chicken stock. Bring to a simmer for about 5-10 minutes. Add the sour cream, cheddar cheese, and fresh parsley. Mix until combined then taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking.

Lastly add the cooked penne pasta and give one final mix. Serve in a large bowl and garnish with parsley.
