The Viral Chicken & Waffle Tenders

Chicken Tender Ingredients:

Waffle Batter Ingredients:


Remove the tendon from the chicken tenders using a sharp knife then season the chicken tenders with salt and pepper. 

Next in 3 separate large bowls: add the flour to bowl 1, beaten eggs with 1 tbsp of water to bowl 2, and the corn flake bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and a little salt, and pepper to bowl 3.

Dredge each chicken tender in the flour, then right into the egg wash, and then into the bread crumbs until the chicken in evenly coated in the breading. Repeat with the rest of the chicken tenders and set aside. 

Next heat some vegetable oil in a deep fryer or dutch over to 350F (making sure to not fill more than half way with oil for safety). Fry the chicken tenders in batches for around 5 minutes per batch or until nice and golden brown. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165F when cooked through. Drain the chicken on paper towels or a wire rack to remove the excess oil and immediately season with salt. 

Now make the waffle batter by combining all the waffle batter ingredients in a large bowl and whisk until there are no lumps. 

Heat the waffle iron and grease with a little cooking spray. Add a little bit of batter to each of the 4 sections of the waffle iron then dip each chicken tender 1/2 way in the batter and set 1 tender on each of the 4 waffle iron sections. Now add just a little more batter on top of the tender but be careful not to add too much. Close the lid and apply pressure. 

Let the chicken tender waffles cook for about 6-8 minutes or until the waffle is golden brown and cooked all the way through. Repeat the process with the rest of the chicken tenders and waffle batter.

(NOTE: A flat waffle iron works best but if the lid will not go all the way down apply pressure to the top so you get a good “sear” on the top of the waffle).

Serve with maple syrup in a ramekin to dip the waffle chicken tenders in.
