Turmeric Rice

The Turmeric Rice Recipe is a fast, easy side dish perfect for brightening your weeknight dinner.

INSTRUCTIONS:

First add the rice to a large bowl and rinse a few times under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain the water from the rice and set aside. 

Next, In a medium size pot on medium heat, add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add the cumin and mustard seeds. Let the seeds fry for 30 seconds then add in the shallots. Season the shallots with salt and pepper. 

Let the shallots fry for a few minutes or until they turn translucent, then add in the garlic, turmeric, and garam masala powder. Let that fry for 30 seconds or until you smell the garlic then add in the basmati rice. Give everything a stir so the seasonings cover the rice evenly, then add in the chicken stock. 

Bring the rice to a gentile simmer then cover with a lid and let cook for 20 minutes.

Once the rice is cooked, fluff with a fork and adjust the seasoning to your liking.
